Ura3 - Orotidine-5-phosphate decarboxylase
The Orotidine-5'-phosphate (OMP) decarboxylase catalyzes the sixth enzymatic step in the de novo biosynthesis of pyrimidines in S. cerevisiae. It converts OMP into uridine monophosphate (UMP) and capable to transform 5-FOA into the toxic 5-fluorouracil. Under the name of Ura3 it is one of the commonly used auxotrophic markers in Yeast. There exists a number of S. cerevisiae strains which are deleated for this enzyme. <br\n> <br\n> Our BioBrick contains the protein coding sequence as well as the natural promoter and terminator of the gene. To avoid a transcription of genes downstream of this part, it might be usefull put a strong termintor (i.e. Adh1_term: BBa_J63002) in between the parts.
